The John H. Chafee Foster Care Independence Program was
created in 1999. You may be eligible for help under this
program. Or, you may be getting help now from this program.
These
assessments, provided by Casey Family Programs, will assist you in assessing
eligibilty for Chafee aid.
Goals of the Chafee Program:
1. To know which youth stay in foster
care until their 18th birthday.
2. To provide these youth with
tools that could help them develop better education, vocation, and life skills.
3. To prepare these youth for education after high school.
4. To support their personal and emotional needs.
5. To support former foster youth ages 18-21 with a variety of supports.
6. To help youth access funds for education and training.
